How is fuel uplift calculated?
You take the difference between the ‘ Fuel on board’ (after refuelling) and the ‘ Fuel on arrival’. This will give you an estimated value of the uplift in kg. You then divide this by the density to give you an estimated value of the uplift in litres.
What are three types of aviation?
Here are just some of the many types of general aviation you may encounter.
- Aerial Firefighting. Aviation and firefighting have a long history.
- Agricultural Aviation.
- Business and Personal Travel.
- Law Enforcement.
- Medical Transport.
- Overnight Delivery.
- Search and Rescue.
- Sightseeing.
How can a pilot control lift?
The pilot can control the lift. Any time the control yoke or stick is moved fore or aft, the AOA is changed. As the AOA increases, lift increases (all other factors being equal). When the aircraft reaches the maximum AOA, lift begins to diminish rapidly.
What do pilots say before landing?
Thank you.” To indicate the landing clearance or final approach, the Captain will either make the following announcement and/or blink the No Smoking sign. “Flight attendants, prepare for landing please.” “Cabin crew, please take your seats for landing.”
How do you calculate fuel discrepancy?
The discrepancy limit (in tonnes) can be calculated from the formula “0.005X +1.356”, where X is the fuel uplift in tonnes. With X equals 86 tonnes, the discrepancy limit is 1.786 tonnes.
How do you calculate fuel holding?
Fuel Burn to destination, to Alternate, plus Reserve gives required fuel. Subtract this from FOB ( Fuel on Board) gives how extra much fuel to hold with. Divide this number by fuel PPH and it gives your time in the hold.
Who is the father of aviation?
He was a pioneer of aeronautical engineering and is sometimes referred to as “the father of aviation.” He discovered and identified the four forces which act on a heavier-than-air flying vehicle: weight, lift, drag and thrust. George Cayley.

Is aviation a good career?
Many people dream of careers in the dynamic aviation industry, and with good reason. Not only does a high-flying career promise adventure and excitement, but jobs in aviation come with other benefits as well, including everything from flexibility to job security.
What is aviation industry in general?
The aviation industry encompasses almost all aspects of air travel and the activities that help to facilitate it. This means it includes the entire airline industry, aircraft manufacturing, research companies, military aviation, and much more.
What are the 6 fundamentals of flight?
(1) Lift, (2) Gravity force or Weight, (3) Thrust, and (4) Drag.
Can a plane fly with one wing?
No, an airplane cannot fly with only one wing. In order for a plane to stay stable in air, it has to maintain balance. With only one wing, the weight is shifted to one side of the plane. This makes it impossible to balance.
What are the 4 principles of flight?
The four forces are lift, thrust, drag, and weight. As a Frisbee flies through the air, lift holds it up.
Why do pilots say Niner?
Aviators often speak “ pilot English” to avoid miscommunications over radio transmission. “Tree” for instance, means three, “fife” is the number five and “ niner ” means nine, says Tom Zecha, a manager at AOPA. The variations stemmed from a desire to avoid confusion between similar-sounding numbers, he says.
Do fighter pilots wear diapers?
Male fighter pilots use something called a “piddle pack”, which is a bag filled with absorbent gel. When the need strikes, they unzip and pee.
Why do pilots say heavy?
When a pilot uses the phrase “ heavy,” he is reminding ATC that his aircraft is large and requires more separation between it and the aircraft following.
